I booked a tour for the trek already but I’ll be in Cusco for 5 more months (digital nomad)… and am considering doing it again solo. This is super helpful & entertaining!! You briefly mentioned what you might have done differently, any additional suggestions??
do some research on places you can *conceivably* stay along the trek that don't require a tour group! Doing the tour will give you a good feel for what it'll be like. Also would definitely consider cabbing it directly to sorayapampa to get ahead if possible. chaullay was the first place that had any available lodging we didnt have to scrape around for and its very much on the back end of the hike so that extra time saved will be helpful! You guys sum the whole trail very nice.. I did the same trail couple years ago and as well I had the most amazing experience in my life.. When I started the planning process I had my doubts if I was going to be able to do it.. BUT i did.. great video ... now the only question I have is who adopted BISCUITS? she is amazing..

Awesome editing. I’ll be doing this trek in a few months and I’m stressing about packing. Were you able to take that backpack as a carry-on? I’m looking at a 40 liter backpack but I’m not sure how tightly packed it would be. Did you use compression cubes for your clothes?
thanks! i think you can get by with 40 liters if you pack tight. my camera gear was in a separate bag, but I had a spare lens and some other camera adjacent electronics I carried in my osprey that took up a lot of room. be sure to do an HONEST test pack once you decide what you want to take. a few months is luckily a good bit of time to feel that all out. happy hiking!
I like the way how this video is edited. Also, your style and the way you tell us your experience gives it an unique touch. I’m going to try hiking to Humantay lake, and the next day to the Salkantay pass this upcoming July. Wish me luck.

Here's what they don't tell you. 1. You'll be paid 35,000thb a month which is a subsistence wage. The market minimum is actually 80,000thb. 2. Their advert which you probably found on Dave's Esl is a complete lie including the accommodation and health insurance 3. Awful managers especially that lying prick Ignacio 4. They won't sponsor your visa until at least six months in which would make you an illegal overstayer 5. If you went through a programme then you've already been scammed because a TEFL should cost no more 200USD which even then is asking too much 6. Don't get sick. They'll sack you BFITS is a company which is built around exploiting foreigners whether they're just travelling or trying to start a new life and that's all that really matters to them and that's why they have a high turn over of staff. BTW I taught at St.Joseph's and the girls were great but it's a shame about the adults who are just awful cold and unfriendly people to the point where being in that damned teacher's lounge was depressing.

I'm not sure what a "Bali bucketlist" is - but -- if you're doing an Indonesia bucket list, I can't recommend Komodo Island enough!
phlezk and to add to that, I’d would have loved to see all of Indonesia, but the fact that I only got to spend a month in Bali and still not see a lot of it is really telling about how amazing Indonesia truly is. Seeing more of it is definitely on my list!

Also, The Gili islands are not overrated! Mushrooms are legal there! Go to the back of the island for better prices, haha. That alone makes it worth a visit. Period ^_^
phlezk thanks for that bit of encouragement! Unfortunately, viewership is a whole other game that isn’t dependent on quality. Over promoting also feels kinda gross, especially after spending a few weeks cutting through footing of myself snorkeling through exotic locations. My videos are strictly a passion project and I appreciate anyone that takes the time to enjoy them :) As for the title, that was kind of the joke hahah. The locals were some of the kindest people I’ve met, and the scenery is obviously amazing. Some (def not all) of the tourists there really gave off kind of a Coachella-y vibe though and that got kind of depressing at times, but I never like to dismiss any place I visit, especially the first time.
